Celebrate the latest release of Beaujolais Nouveau with us at The Spyglass. This annual event takes place on the third Thursday of November, making it 21st November in 2019 and we’ve been celebrating since we first opened in 1988, that’s 31 years now!
So what is Beaujolais Nouveau? It is when the first Gamay grapes are picked (by hand) in the Beaujolais region and are processed and made into wine within weeks of being harvested. On the third Thursday in November at 12.01am (local French time) the wine is released and sent out around the country and across Europe. Parties and celebrations are held across France and further afield (including right here at The Spyglass!) to celebrate the first wine of the season (we love any reason for a party!)
The famous Spyglass Beaujolais Breakfast combines a bottle of Beaujolais (to yourself) alongside a full English breakfast.
The atmosphere is decidedly Francais on the day, with an accordion playing throughout the morning encouraging you all to sing along to some classics. Fancy dress is positively encouraged, whether you pop on a striped top, become Inspector Clouseau, a French mime artist or over the years we’ve had a grape vine, a bottle of wine and even the Eiffel tower!
Booking is absolutely essential as tickets are limited. Due to popular demand we encourage you to book as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.
Tickets are £24.95 per person and can be purchased at the bar or by calling 01983 855338.
Rooms are booking up fast but don’t forget we also offer bed and breakfast accommodation. If you want to extend your stay then give us a call or ask at the bar about availability.
